She earned a bachelor’s from DePaul University, a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate from Columbia Commonwealth University.

Cardona is the former senior director and civic engagement advisor to Massachusetts Gov. Deval L. Patrick. Cardona holds a bachelor’s from Springfield College and a master’s from Syracuse University.
