Chairing up: black alumni students endow Whitney M. Young Jr. Memorial Chair at U of P’s Wharton School of Business – University of Pennsylvania
Philadelphia To ensure a permanent African-American presence and establish themselves as major forces in institutional policy-making, African-American students and alumni of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business have raised a $1.25 million endowment for a new Whitney. M. Young Jr. Memorial Chair. It will support the teaching and research activities of scholars of African descent at Wharton.

Fisk’s Fire Sale of O’Keeffe Painting Blocked by Tennessee Attorney General
Fisk University’s proposed sale of a priceless Georgia O’Keeffe painting was blocked Thursday by the Tennessee Attorney General, who said the sale would be “an artistic and financial loss for Fisk and would detract from the rich cultural environment of this community.”

Fisk University Ready to Sell Prized O’Keeffe Painting
Officials at financially troubled Fisk University have signaled to state officials this week that the Nashville, Tenn., school is ready to sell its prized Georgia O’Keeffe painting to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum for $7 million, although other potential buyers have offered more than three times that amount in the past month.
