JOSE SARTARELLI has been named chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is chief global officer and dean of the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University. He will take office in July. Sartarelli earned a bachelor’s from the Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil. He earned an MBA and a doctorate from Michigan State University.

GRETCHEN HOLBROOK GERZINA
GRETCHEN HOLBROOK GERZINA has been appointed dean of the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, effective July 15. She was chair of the department of African and African-American studies, a professor of English and Kathe Tappe Vernon Professor of Biography at Dartmouth College. Gerzina earned a bachelor’s from Marlboro College, a master’s from Simmons College and a doctorate from Stanford University.

She was a professor of education studies and former interim dean of the College of Education at the University of Oregon.
