Dr. Dawna Jones

Jones Dawna 300x300Dr. Dawna Jones was promoted to associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

A Duke administrator for the past five years, Dr. Jones most recently served as assistant vice president for identity centers and community development. Before that role, she was director of Duke’s Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture. Prior to joining Duke, Dr. Jones spent eight years in student affairs roles at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has also held leadership positions at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Jones is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in social work from West Chester University, a master’s degree in higher education management from the University of Pittsburgh, and a doctorate in transformative leadership for civic and community engagement from North Carolina A&T State University.
