Dr. Lennor M. Johnson

Johnson LennorDr. Lennor M. Johnson has been named superintendent and president of MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California. The community college enrolls more than 11,000 students, 4 percent of whom are Black. Upon assuming his role on August 3, Dr. Johnson will become the first African American to lead MiraCosta College in its 92-year history.

With nearly three decades of experience in education, Dr. Johnson comes to his presidency with a background in both academic and administrative leadership. Most recently, he served as superintendent and president of the Imperial Valley Community College District in California. Before that role, Dr. Johnson was campus director at Bryant & Stratton College in New York. Outside of his time in academia, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps.

Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania, where he majored in business administration. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from Governors State University and a doctorate in education from Argosy University.
