U of Washington School of Law Receives Gift to Promote Diversity

The University of Washington (UW) School of Law has received a $250,000 gift to support efforts to increase diversity.

UW regent Blaine Tamaki and his wife, Preciosa Tamaki, are the donors of the gift, which will be distributed over two years, said a university statement.

Of the total gift, $150,000 will be used to create five new diversity scholarships over two years; $50,000 will go toward mental health services for students; $40,000 will be used to support the Tribal Court Clinic; and $10,000 will go toward diversity training and pipeline events.

“This gift will further the law school’s ability to recruit excellent students with diverse backgrounds and experiences, as well as expand the services we are able to provide for students,” said Mario L. Barnes, the Toni Rembe Dean of the UW School of Law.
