Fort Valley University President to Step Down

FORT VALLEY, Ga. —The president of Fort Valley State University is stepping down after two years in the post.

Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith announced he would leave office June 30.

WMAZ-TV reports that Griffith has not commented on the reason for his departure. School officials said Griffith was unavailable for comment.

Moody’s Investor Service last year reduced the university’s bond rating, citing its declining enrollment, weak operating performance and minimal resources. The Faculty Senate President, James Mack, said enrollment dipped after the school started using stricter admission standards.
