A federal jury found former Valdosta State University President Ronald M. Zaccari personally liable for violating the due process right of former student Thomas Hayden Barnes, ending a five-year legal battle. Barnes was awarded $50,000.
Zaccari had Barnes expelled without a hearing in 2007 after protesting Zaccari’s plan to build two parking garages on campus.
